Sewing on Main Street
We are called “Sewing On Main Street” and we meet and work at First Baptist Church. Our main focus is to love others like Jesus did. With our greatest efforts we cannot even come close to that standard, but we do love Jesus and others.
We meet once a month and began by making pillowcase dresses to send to foreign countries. Then we branched out to making adult bibs and blankets for he housebound/wheelchair bound in our community. We didn’t get to meet much in 2020 BUT we added making masks to what we do. Many of us worked at home and made probably 1,000 masks for hospitals, nursing homes, students, and other individuals.
In the past we made red and black shorts/shirts for the schools in Appling County. Presently we are working on that project again and hope to make 50-60 sets. We would like to give these outfits to any deserving student you know. From my teaching experience, I know students like to dress like others and feel excluded if they don’t have a “football shirt” to wear on Fridays!
Remember that some of the ladies who work with me had no sewing experience when they began helping but have made great progress in just a few months. If you would like to learn to sew let us know. We can meet in small groups and learn together.
Our desire is to witness for Jesus both in foreign countries and to those around us every day. If you know of any way we can help you, please let us know.
Thank you. Because of Jesus!!
